Every time I see a Facebook post about how Bengaluru has changed, or is getting ruined over the years, I feel greatful for having belonged to Basavanagudi and Chamarajapete.

With so many changes, they still never fail to captivate people, especially Basavanagudi because of the things it has to offer.

The feeling of reaching Ashrama from any other part of Bengaluru is just so great. Its a sign that I reached home.

It is almost a family tradition to study in National College. People from over three generations have studied here.
Brahmin’s cafe idly was my favourite ತಿಂಡಿ for Saturday mornings in school at MSS. Have bunked the first hour on many days in college to eat there. It still is a favourite ತಿಂಡಿ hotel for many people like me. The hotel became bigger. But nothing much changed.

Every Brahmin household here will have a book purchased from ವೇದಾಂತ book house.

And then ಕಡ್ಲೆಕಾಯಿ ಪರಿಶೆ and ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ತೇರು. It happens every year. But many of us would never want to miss it even one year.
There is bull temple road with many landmarks and almost always filled with people, then the shooting ಮನೆ road parallel to it and then the Shankar matha road. It won’t be wrong to call it the Nanda talkies road of this neighbourhood.

But that is what we do every year!

Butter sponge bore ಆದ್ರೆ VB bakery. Srinivasa Brahmins Bakery.

And many people here actually know who their neighbours are and actually talk to them. Its not like one of those places where you don’t know who lives next to you.

And Dasara special ಶಂಕರ ಮಠ visit is a must do for many.

All these things are really a very small percentage of what Basavanagudi has to offer.
I can keep going on and ooon and ooooon!

It is soooo versatile, like a small world in itself!
People who haven’t lived or been here might think I am just boasting. People who have will understand and can probably relate.

That fact that I love Bengaluru is so much because of this. Whenever I see people complaining about Bengaluru’s traffic, pollution, modernisation, metros, crowd, etc, I know that there exists a place, a beautiful world which, with all the problems stated above still manages to retain its old world charm. <3

I just read an article about how our city has changed and felt like sharing this. I genuinely feel lucky that I belong to this part of Bengaluru. It is only a few kilometers of land in a vast, fast growing city like ours, but this has been so impactful in making many of us who we are.

Finaly, long story short
