Present tense variety

nODu means “To See”. nODuttane = nODu + utta + aane, means “He will see”.

  1. Here, let us assume that “utta” is an joiner and “aane” is the gender specific word.
  1. Similarly nODuttaLe = nODu + utta + aaLe, means she will see with “aale”.
  2. Similarly, nODutte = nODu + utta + E = It will see
    1. Present Tense

 

Gender/Person English Kannada
First person I will do naanu maaDuttEne
We will do naavu maaDuttEve
Second Person Will You do? neenu maaDutteeya?
  You(plural) do neevu maaDutteera
Male/Third person He will play avanu aaDuttaane
Female/Third person She will play avaLu aaDuttaaLe
  They will run avaru ODuttare
Non-human/Third person Tiger runs huli ODuttade
  They(non-living) run avu ODuttave

First person usage = verb + utta + ene………………… Second person usage = verb + utta + eeya

Third person usage = verb + utta + ane/aLe

Negative sentences

 

English Kannada Tense form
I am singing naanu haaDuttiddene haaDu + utta + iddEne
I am not singing naanu haaDuttilla haaDu + utta + illa

Continuous present:

 

Whenever we talk about the continuous present the verbs are attached to utta+iddene.

Example:

maaDu + Utta maaDuttiddEne,(Self)maaDttaiddaare (Plural)

maaDuttiddaane(Male)

maaDuttiddaaLe, (Female)
